Pre-operative  Instructions

Please read the following instructions very carefully before your appointment date and call our office at (818) 703-7733 for the Woodland Hills office or (805)-644-5284 for the Ventura office should you have any questions or  concerns.

If you must reschedule your appointment, please allow at least 7 full business days to change your appointments . Any cancellations for major surgeries without at least 72 hours notice may result in charges.

 Periodontal Surgery:

Periodontal surgery is a low-risk, routine clinical procedure that is performed inside our dental office and does not require hospitalization.  

We advise that before making your appointment you need to disclose the following to our office:

  • Change in health history (existing patients)
  • Change in medication
  • List of allergies
  • List of medications including the use of aspirin
  • Change in your primary care provider
  • Any surgeries that require you to pre-medicate prior to any procedure


Eating prior to your surgery is recommended unless otherwise instructed. If you are going to undergo sedation, the anesthesiologist who will perform the procedure will touch bases with you regarding the do’s and the don’ts.


The anesthesiologist is independent of our office.  We will be informing you of the anesthesiologist that will be performing the sedation alongside your doctor and they will get in touch with you directly.  Please discuss any health concerns with the anesthesiologist and the payment arrangement.  They all take checks and credit cards.


            Anti-anxiety Medications

  • Medications that have been prescribed to you help relax you should be taken as directed. 
  • Arrangements should also be made for someone to drive you to and from our office on the day of the surgery.


  • Antibiotics should be taken regardless of whether you are in pain or not.
  • Antibiotics are meant to prevent infection and must be taken on time and in its entirety

Post-Operative Instructions:

Please make sure that you follow all post-operative instructions that will be given to you both verbally and in writing at the time you are in our office when you make the appointment and on the day of your surgery.   

            Post-Operative appointment: 

  • You MUST be seen at our office a week after surgery.  It is the patient’s responsibility to schedule and keep their appointments during and after the healing period.
